Cesky Krumlov & Prague

What to say, where to start. Still trekking through Eastern Europe. We made a really quick trip to Cesky Krumlov, a small town in the south of the Czech Republic. It is a mix between Renaissance and Medieval streetscapes, and recognized by UNESCO as a world Heritage site. I wish we could have stayed longer – though I would never have slept. We were staying in a haunted inn, and I woke up at every little sound wondering “Is that the ghost in the attic?” (Though by 4 am I stopped caring and just slept, leaving the ghost to do as he pleased.)
I don’t even know what to say about this place except that it was beautiful. You’ll have to wait for the photos. We were there the night before the biggest festival of the year – the Festival of the Five Petal Rose. It is a medieval festival featuring local craftwork, traditional food, and even a jousting competition. D. wanted to stay a few extra days and compete, but apparently you have to be descendant from a Royal line. Oh well.
Last night we got into Prague and got set up in our new apartment. Beautiful place furnished with antiques. We are in the Dandelion room, you can see here. http://www.castlesteps.com/rooms_mozart.htm
That’s all for now. We’re off to a city walking tour.
